Tips on How to Prepare Deviled Eggs

Deviled eggs are quite popular especially during Easter. Preparing eggs this way is a good twist to simply boiling them. They are quite easy to prepare so it would not be much of a hassle to do it. And almost everyone enjoys them too. 

For All Occasions

Eggs are surely quite popular in Easter. During this season they are even colored with lovely spring colors and patterns as well. They are just part of the festivities. But when there is too many, they end up prepared as deviled eggs on the table too. But then this dish is not only for Easter. It is actually for all occasions. It can also be served beside a baked honey ham during Christmas. At Thanksgiving, it would nicely complement with the turkey which is usually the centerpiece. You can even serve it any time you want to. You can have it as snacks for the family as well as for guests who come to visit. Whether it is the main course of a meal or not, it is mostly enjoyed by most people.

Ingredients of Deviled Eggs

As the name of the dish suggests, you would need eggs. And it does not take rocket science to learn how to prepare everything though. Just make sure that you have salad dressing (white) or mayonnaise. You would also need mustard, dill or sweet pickle relish and hot or sweet paprika.

Preparing Deviled Eggs

The preparation of deviled eggs starts with the boiling of the eggs. Make sure the eggs are fully cooked as the dish would not be a success if they are not fully cooked. When cooking the eggs, you should get a pot big enough to accommodate the eggs and the needed water. There should also be enough boiling room. The water should be around 10 centimeters high above the eggs. Just turn the heat to the maximum and place the pot for boiling. You can then put the lid back on the pot as water starts to boil. Then put the heat to medium low. Just leave it for about fifteen minutes. After such time you can turn the stove off and remove the pot. Carefully place the eggs under running cold water for cooling. You are now half way done.

Once the eggs have cooled you can peel them and cut them into halves. Make sure to do this lengthwise though. You can then start removing the yolks. Place the empty whites on a separate plate for a while. The yolks should be placed in a bowl. Mash them with the mayo, mustard and relish. Once the yolks and the other ingredients are mashed you can start putting them back to the empty egg whites. To do this, place the mashed yolks in a bag (nylon). Punch a hole in the bottom corner of this bag. You can then fill the egg whites by pressing the mashed yolks out of the bag and in the whites.

After the eggs whites are filled, you can finish the dish with paprika. You can also choose to use hot paprika depending on the effect or taste you prefer for the deviled eggs. Let the dish cool down in the fridge for a few hours before serving.
