Not long ago, she was planning her wedding day. But just two months after being unceremoniously  dumped by Earl Spencer, his former fiancee, alluring widow Lady Bianca Eliot, is busy erasing all memory buy links of londonof Princess Diana’s brother from her life.

And she is starting, I can reveal, by selling his engagement ring.

The fabulous diamond and sapphire ring — which was purchased by Spencer at the New Bond Street jeweller S.J.Phillips last spring for £25,000 is now glinting in the window of fellow jeweller Michael Rose in London’s Burlington Arcade, off Piccadilly. Its price tag? £29,000.

Moving on: Bianca Eliot wants £29,000 for the ring

The ring is a large diamond surrounded by sapphires, which is the reverse of Diana’s engagement ring — a large sapphire surrounded by diamonds — which now graces the finger of Kate Middleton.

‘It is not just a question of money. She simply didn’t want to keep the ring after everything that happened between them,’ I am told. ‘She had it valued and is very happy to let Michael Rose sell it.’

Intriguingly, Lady Eliot first took the ring back to Phillips, but declined to leave it there when offered just £8,000 for it. ‘She felt it was worth more,’ says a friend.

Bianca wants to forget all about her ‘mistake’ in trusting the twice-married Spencer. ‘She isn’t bitter, because she is not that sort of person. At the same time, there is absolutely no point in her hanging on to the ring — and the money will be useful,’ adds my source.

Spencer, 46, started dating mother-of-three Bianca, the step-daughter of artist Robert Lenkiewicz, two years ago.

Bianca was widowed in 2006 when Lord Eliot, the 40-year-old heir to the Earl of St Germans, died in the bath following an epileptic fit at their farmhouse on the 6,000-acre Port Eliot estate in Cornwall.

‘Spencer didn’t ask for the ring back — he said she could do whatever she wanted with it,’ says the friend. ‘Life with Charles was not always easy. He could be quite erratic. One minute there would be trouble, the next links of london jewellery he would be making it up to her over a candlelit dinner.‘She is making a new life for herself in London with her children, rather than Cornwall.’

Says jeweller Michael Rose: ‘I obviously cannot comment on any of my clients individually, but I can say that in general a fine vintage piece of jewellery will always continue to rise in value.
